Indiana's Sweet Spot: Albanese Candy Factory

I stopped in to grab a treat for my wife's birthday, and picked some up for my son, as well. There's not much to see as far as an attraction, you can look into the factory through a glass viewing area. If you are there with the factory not working, as we were, there's even less to see. The real attractionis the Albanese Candy Factory Store Outlet where you can get a wide variety of candy at very reasonable prices. Located 3 miles off Hwy 65 in northern Indiana, this is a cool place to stop for candy and chocolates.

It's not a destination, but a quick side trip if you have time. They allow you to sample all of their candy, which is quit reasonably priced, especially the factory rejects. This is a fun place to go because you are surrounded by all kinds of candy, but I go for the gummy bears and worms. Because they are the largest maker and they make them on-site, the gummies are fresh and amazing. Here's a tip: when you walk in the door there are boxes of 6 pound bags of discounted gummies, which they say are mistakes.

I don't know what that means because they are fabulous and cheap! They also have lots of candy they sell by the pound, including the gummies in all kinds of flavors, and packaged candy too. I found the packaged candy to be pricey, but there are lots of choices - even of my old childhood favorites. This is a great place to take kids, but be prepared to spend. It was decorated for the holidays beautifully. Priced kind of reasonably.

Overall, it not somewhere I would likely return. For no reason other than "if you've been in one, you've been in them all. This is a fun place to visit and they have a HUGE selection of candy to purchase. They also have a good selection of sugar free candy and loads of Jelly Bellys!

It is a fun place to visit. They also have gifts you can buy and they are known for the production of gummy bears that are shipped worldwide. The Albanese candy factory creates a Willy Wonka experience for a quick stop to the world's largest factory making gummy bears and lots of other candies!

The house on the front of the factory reminds me of the shops at Disney at the end of the rides or attractions. You know they are getting your wallet but they make you happy. The 'house' is actually a store that is filled with an amazing assortment of candy--including lots of sugar free offerings--and features a self guided tour most of the year but has Santa on hand during the holidays. If you are nostalgic for a lost brand of candy, they probably have it.

Weird flavors of gummis? Be careful, the sugar in the air will make you crazy and you'll spend a lot of dough before you know it! Candy Factory Store Outlet - Albanese Candy Factory

I stopped in to grab a treat for my wife's birthday, and picked some up for my son, as well. I happened to stop at this seemingly fun candy store today en route back from northwest Indiana. However, I was dismayed by its operation although the product is good, as most candy is. My two issues comprise the way I was waited on by the many youthful staff in a busy atmosphere. There was no smile or personal greeting, only a perfunctory greeting of "May I help you", etc.

Albanese makes more than kinds of candy. Milk-chocolate covered anything and everything walnuts, peanut butter Ritz crackers, blueberries. Dark-chocolate covered anything and everything coffee beans, pretzels, cashews. Then there are fancy chocolate-dipped creams and cordials and toffees.
